On a Friday, I Was Reminded About Time Part II
..... And then Tasha said something so casually. “Tun Mahathir became Prime Minister at 56.” That was it.One sentence. And strangely, I smiled. Not because suddenly I wanted to become Prime Minister. But the number stayed with me. 56 huh. He had already lived decades of life and built a long professional and political career before taking office at 56. And somehow, hearing that made me feel... LIBERATED...macam ada batu diangkat dari dada Because suddenly I realised something. Whylah I kena rasa 50 tu macam expiry date? Sapa yang bgtau hang Tasnim that everything I am meant to become has to happen before 50? Apparently...org tu ialah I sendiri. 😂 I created the timeline. I created the deadline. Lepas tu kau stress to meet the deadline. Sendiri cari penyakit..Sungguhlah tu Maybe our 20s and 30s were never supposed to be the finished product.Maybe for some of us, those years were the university of life. And kalau ikut cerita hidup I...I rasa macam ambil degree lepas tu Master lepas tu PHD selama 40 tahun.Quite expensive also, this university. Tuition fee dia bukan duit saja. Dibayar dengan kesalahan demi kesalahan, dibayar dengan heartbreak.dibayar dengan wrong decisions, dibayar dengan trust, dibayar dengan ego. Tapi tu lah education.because when I look at myself today, I don't think the woman I was at 30 could build what I want to build now. She was capable. She was ambitious. She worked hard too But she hadn't learnt enough yet.She hadn't met enough people. She hadn't made enough mistakes. She hadn't lost enough. She hadn't rebuilt enough. And perhaps most importantly, dia sendiri pun belum cukup faham dengan diri dia. So maybe 40 wasn't me arriving late.40 was graduation. And now comes the part where I finally get to use everything I've learnt. That thought changed something in me.Because selama ni, bila orang cakap,“Break your glass ceiling.” I understood the phrase. But I kept thinking...What exactly is my glass ceiling? I always imagined it as something outside of me.An organisation.A position. Money. Opportunity. Someone else's perception of what I could or couldn't become. But today, over a simple Friday breakfast with my sister, I found one.MY TIMELINE One of my glass ceilings was a number I had quietly placed above my own head.50. And because I had decided that I needed to “make it” by then, every decision started carrying unnecessary weight. If I choose Road A... sempat ke? What if Road B satgi lama sangat pula? What if I sekali lagi nak tukar direction tapi tiba2 tak jadi? What if I'm 50 dan masih tak capai? Then what? Without realising it, I wasn't only choosing my path based on where I wanted to go. Dok sibuk mengira sempat ke tak. And that's a dangerous way to dream. Sebab anxious begini yang nanti you start questioning. I don't need to race against an age I invented.I just hanya perlu teruskan. Of course kena ada goals, ambition and yes, the actuarial DNA isn't going anywhere. I will still calculate.Forecast.Project. Probably create another spreadsheet. 😂 But perhaps the numbers should help me plan my life. Bukan untuk digeruni. There is a difference. Sometimes rezeki doesn't arrive in your bank account. Sometimes it arrives across the breakfast table... and gives you back your future.
On a Friday, I Was Reminded About Time
Hari ni hari Jumaat, 2nd October 2026. As a Muslim, we have always been taught that Friday is a day of barakah. A day we look forward to. A day we make more doa, hoping for His mercy, His blessings, His rezeki. Malah, ramai antara kita yang berdoa — kalau sampai masa kita meninggalkan dunia ini nanti, alangkah indahnya kalau dipanggil pulang pada hari Jumaat. And I have always felt that if we look at life not just with our eyes, but dengan mata hati, sometimes there are little miracles that happen on Fridays. Not necessarily the dramatic kind. Sometimes rezeki comes as money. Sometimes as an opportunity. Sometimes as a person. And sometimes, rezeki comes in the form of one conversation that suddenly makes you look at your whole life differently. Today was one of those Fridays. It started with something very simple. Breakfast with my beloved sister, Tasha.Nothing grand. Just two sisters meeting for breakfast. But somehow, that small breakfast turned into one of those conversations that stayed with me long after we left the table. Because we talked about life. More specifically...my timeline. You see, 2026 has been a rather significant year for me. I would say this is the year I decided to take my life back. There were several years before this when life tested me in ways I probably wasn't prepared for. There were downtimes. There were disappointments. There were occasions when I had to survive first and think about dreams later. That story deserves a post of its own. Trust me. Panjang. 😂 But this year, slowly, I started opening the door for myself again. Nak hidup balik.Nak bina balik. Nak percaya balik. And anyone who has ever had to rebuild after a storm would know — deciding to come back doesn't magically make everything easy. You don't wake up one morning and announce, “Okay. Aku dah ready. Jom conquer the world.” ...and suddenly the world gives you a standing ovation. Nooooo. Life doesn't work like that. The storm may have passed, but then comes the cleaning. Then repairing. Then figuring out what can still be saved. And sometimes, accepting that certain things memang kena bina semula from scratch. But Alhamdulillah. Dengan izin Allah SWT, and with a very strong support system around me, slowly... I am coming back. Not completely there yet. But coming. And that itself is something I am grateful for. But kita ni manusia. I have always believed that Allah gives each of us our fair share of rezeki and challenges. So tak bolehlah lepas satu hurdle kita terus announce, "Okay Allah, cukup ya. Bahagian ujian saya dah complete." 😂 No such contract exists. One hurdle ends. Life continues. And lately, while I am becoming clearer about where I want to go — especially when it comes to my first and probably forever love, my career — another feeling has started creeping in. Anxiety. Not because I don't know what I want. Ironically, because now I do. I can finally see what I want to build. I can see the direction. I can see the bigger picture. And suddenly...I can also see the timeline. Maybe after being in financial services and risk management for so long, the actuarial DNA has become too deeply embedded in me. Everything somehow becomes numbers. Age. Years. Milestones. Probability. Projection. Remaining tenure. Very romantic, I know. 😂 So my brain started calculating. I'm already in my 40s. Okay. This is it. This is my last big cycle. This is the decade where I need to bounce back, build what I have been imagining, make it sustainable and finally see the fruits of everything I've learnt throughout my career. And somewhere along the way, I gave myself another number: 50. By 50, I want to have built it. By 50, I want to be there. By 50, all these things I am working on now should already have become something. Sounds perfectly reasonable, kan? Until your actuarial brain does what actuarial brains do. It calculates backwards. And suddenly I wasn't looking at how much time I have. I was looking at how much time I have left. That's a very different feeling. Suddenly 50 didn't look far away. Suddenly every year mattered. Every month mattered. Every opportunity felt like it couldn't be wasted. And somewhere between ambition and calculation, without even realising it... I had turned my dream into a countdown. That was what I carried with me to breakfast this morning. Not loudly. I wasn't sitting there dramatically staring into my coffee thinking about my mortality. 😂 But it was there. That quiet anxiety. Aku sempat ke? Can I build what I want to build? Can I become the woman professionally that I know I am capable of becoming? Did I restart too late? Have I lost too many years? And most importantly... How much time do I actually have left to make it happen? And then Tasha and I started talking. And somewhere in that conversation, on an ordinary Friday morning over breakfast... my sister made me look at my timeline differently. ...to be continued

Come Back Again
I was cleaning up my Google account when one random notification appeared in my email.
It was about several cute videos of my kids — videos that I clearly remembered sharing on social media many, many years ago.
So naturally, I clicked.
And to my surprise, it brought me here.
To a blog.
My blog.
My first reaction was literally—
“Eh... aku ada blog ke?”
So I started clicking around. One post became another. Then another.
And tadaaaaa...
Apparently, there was once a version of me who was very much invested in blogging.
And she even had a name for it.
This is Blog NimboKing.
MashaAllah.
I started reading my old entries and honestly, I surprised myself. Eh, I can write rupanya.
And another surprise — my Bahasa Malaysia was actually not bad! 😂
I don't know why that shocked me more than discovering the blog itself.
There were stories. Pictures. Videos. My children when they were much smaller. Random thoughts. Pieces of my life that, at that time, probably felt very ordinary.
But today?
They don't feel ordinary anymore.
They feel like time capsules.
My first thought was to delete the blog.
Save the pictures. Download the videos. Keep whatever memories I wanted in my phone and clean up the rest.
Simple.
But then...
Wait a minute.
Why should I bury all these memories?
Why erase something simply because that chapter of my life has ended?
That woman who wrote those stories was still me.
Maybe younger. Maybe different. Maybe her priorities were different. Maybe she saw life differently.
But she was me.
And suddenly I thought — this could actually be fun.
Not just for me.
One day, my children might come here and read about themselves when they were little. They might discover stories they don't remember. They might even discover a version of their mother they never really knew.
And knowing my children, they will probably laugh at some of it.
For years, I've always had this feeling that my life journey is worth documenting.
Not because my life is extraordinary.
But because it has been... a lot.
There were beautiful chapters. Messy ones. Ambitious ones. Painful ones. Ridiculous ones. Chapters where I thought I knew exactly where I was going — and chapters where life clearly had other plans.
Many times I thought,
"One day, I should write a book."
But that one day never came.
Because every time I thought about writing a book, the same question came:
Where do I even start?
Well.
Apparently, life answered that question for me.
I don't have to start.
I can restart.
Because somehow, by rezeki, I stumbled upon the place where I had already started many years ago.
This blog. This is Blog NimboKing.
And the more I thought about it, the more this blog reminded me of an old classic car.
Imagine you once owned a car that you absolutely loved.
You polished it. Took care of it. Spent money on it. Put your time, effort and personality into it.
And when you drove it around, you were proud of it.
Then life changed.
The world moved faster.
Newer cars came along. Better technology. More efficient. More convenient.
And slowly, that classic car ended up in the garage.
You didn't sell it because...
nak jual, sayang.
So you covered it up.
Put it aside.
And told yourself,
"One day nanti aku buat something dengan kereta ni."
Years passed.
And then one day, you opened that garage again.
Pulled off the cover.
And realised...
Eh. This thing is actually quite beautiful.
Better still, the world has somehow gone full circle.
Now classic is cool again.
People look for things with character. Things with history. Things that aren't perfectly manufactured to look like everything else.
And apparently, youngsters think people driving classic cars are cool.
Well then.
Today I also want to be cool.
😂
So maybe it's time to take my old NimboKing out of the garage.
Start the engine.
See whether hidup lagi ke tak.
Polish it a little.
Repair what needs repairing.
Maybe upgrade a few things — because the woman driving it today is definitely not the same woman who parked it all those years ago.
But I don't want to turn it into a brand-new car.
That defeats the whole point of owning a classic.
I want to keep its character.
Its scratches.
Its stories.
Its history.
And then, from time to time, I'll take it out for a drive.
Write when I have something worth writing.
Tell stories when I have stories worth telling.
Maybe revisit the woman I used to be.
And introduce her to the woman I have become.
And perhaps, many years from now, I can hand these stories to my children.
Not as some grand legacy.
Just pieces of their mother's life.
Proof that before she became simply Mommy in their stories...she had stories of her own too.
So yes.
After all these years...
Hello again, NimboKing.
I have absolutely no idea where we're going this time.
But then again...
we've already travelled quite a distance together.
Start the engine.
Let's see where this road takes us....

Tenang is Good
Salam Sihat untuk Semua,
Tempoh bertenang. Semua orang perlukan tempoh bertenang. Hence I do need it and I believe so does everyone. Terutama bagi kaum perempuan.
Persoalan sampai sekarang. Sampai bila kita perlu bertenang? Benarkah bertenang itu penyelesaian pada semua masalah atau lebih melanjutkan masalah kita.
I'm still looking for some answers here.
Tetapi apa yang boleh dikatakan, bertenang itu seronok walaupun jawapannya belum pasti.
I pray I have the answer.
